I joined my son Skye along with star Schirn Kunsthalle curator Ingrid Pfeiffer in Bilbao for the opening performance and exhibition opening of Yoko Ono Half-a-Wind Show, A Retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. There we met Max Hollein’s numero uno, the Nico-esque Inka Droegemuller and Yoko’s capo John Hendricks. Ingrid Pfeiffer conceived of and curated the exhibition which originated at the Schirn Kunstverein, Frankfurt, went on to Vienna, and is up until September 1, 2014 in Bilbao.
As a companion to the exhibition, March 12, at 6:30 pm, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao hosted two of the artist’s legendary performances – Sky Piece to Jesus Christ and Promise Piece – and a new version of her more recent performance, Action Painting, created specifically for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. I worked for Yoko Ono in 1975, creating pyramid shaped tents of various sizes.
